Expectations of Membership in
The Senseney Community Band
The Senseney Community Band has a reputation for consistent outstanding musical performance. In order to maintain our standard of performance excellence, we do place some expectations on our membership.
1. Members of the Community Band are expected to bring a positive attitude to each and every rehearsal and performance and truly enjoy being a part of the group.
2. Members of the Community Band are expected to be on time for all rehearsals and performances. Absences should be reported to the Music Director via email as early as possible.
3. Members of the Community Band are expected to attend as many rehearsals as possible before each concert. Good performances rely on good rehearsals. However members who are sick are asked not to come to rehearsal to protect the health of the other members. If you cannot make enough of the rehearsals to be comfortable with the music and the artistic interpretations, it may be best to wait for the next concert.
4. Members of the Community Band are expected to be respectful of the conductors and other band members by refraining from conversation during rehearsal. Conversations between band members and seatmates should be conducted between songs or before and after rehearsal. Rehearsal time is limited and instructions from our conductors need to be heard and understood.
5. Members of the Community Band are expected to be musically prepared to rehearse and therefore encouraged to practice at home and work out challenging passages between rehearsals. However, the Band is a large group and music must be shared. If you take music or a folder home, it must be returned for the next rehearsal.
6. Members of the Community Band are expected to bring a pencil to rehearsal. Marking the conductor’s instructions and identifying mistakes and marking them in pencil is highly encouraged. Please DO NOT use ink.
7. Members of the Community Band are expected to adhere to concert attire as specified by the Music Director. Concert attire will vary depending on the concert season, venue and purpose of concert.
A member will be subject to removal from the organization for gross violation of the above stated expectations.
We appreciate the commitment of your time and talent to the Senseney Community Band! When we work together we can make this an enjoyable experience for all. Please feel free to bring ideas on music, venues, or other topics of interest to the Music Director or any Board Member.
